Phonics splat!

The children have a new favourite game - Phonics Splat!

To develop their letter recognition at speed, we have created a phonics splat game in the outdoor area. In the tuff spots we have chalked all of the sounds we have learnt so far. The children each have a splatter and take turns to 'splat' the correct sound when they hear it. We developed this further by asking the children to splat the sound that is at the begining of a word such as 'pig', 'hat', 'mummy'. So many of the children were engaged in this activity. There were lots of opportunuties to develop turn-taking skills as well as working together to find the sound quickly.
