Learning Skills in the sun!
This half term our learning skills focus is on speaking and listening! As the sun was shining, we took our learning outside!
Summer seems to have officially arrived at BCA and we've welcomed it with open arms! To make the most of the glorious weather, we took our learning outside yesterday. This half-term our topic in learning skills is all about Speaking and Listening. The first thing we've learnt and agreed as a class is that we have one mouth and two ears for a reason... we should be listening twice as much as we talk!!!
This week our specific learning skill statement is: "I can listen to and tolerate the views of others". So we have been completing activities that help us to achieve this!
Armed with philosophy and thinking cards, we made our way to freshly mown field and made a huge circle. We did some warm up games in which the children are asked a question about anything, for example 'If you could invent anything, what would it be?' and 'What is your dream job?' All the children answered and some of their ideas were beyond imaginative! We then split into two groups and discussed questions like 'Would you rather have fame or privacy?' and 'What if you lived forever?' Understandably all of the children had different ideas, views and opinions in which they listened to one another and shared their reasons.
What a lovely learning skills lesson in the sun! Hopefully, weather depending, we'll be able to do more of this!
