To start off our new literacy unit with a bang we made Rocky Road! Our new genre of writing is instructions and recipes! To link it with our Theme learning about The Fairground we followed a recipe to make a sweet, chocolatey treat! We had to read the instructions and look carefully for the imperative verbs and adverbs. When we identified this we knew what to do (imperative verbs) and how to do it (adverbs). We all had a go at mixing and stirring, and crushing and pouring. Afterwards, with our chocolatey hands all clean, we analysed te recipe in more detail and annotated and explained the features. Now we have followed a recipe to make delicious Rocky Road we are all ready to start inventing and writing recipes for our very own Fairground treat! What a fun way to learn!
