On Saturday 19th May 2018 HRH Prince Harry, married Meghan Markle. Here at Bishop Creighton we also celebrated this phenomenal event, by hosting our own wedding on Friday 18th May.
Today (Monday 30th April 2018) Year 5 went on a trip to the Botanic Gardens in Leicester. What a wonderful experience! We learnt all about plants and animal life cycles. The Botanic Gardens aim to bring a global perspective to the curriculum, especially in environmental and development issues and they have been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom (LoTC) quality badge and the Growing Schools awards.
This week is Maths week, the focus is on developing maths skills that often is an area of the curriculum that can be challenging for some students. Maths Week gives us the chance to work together, share ideas about effective practice, promote the importance of maths skills – and have fun at the same time!
This week we have been lucky enough to participate in an Antony Gormley workshop. KS2 at Bishop Creighton Academy had the chance to create some special clay work, that will be displayed at an exhibition in Peterborough City centre in April.
This week Year 5 have been looking at newspapers and writing our own reports for the very first time.
At the end of last half term, Year 5 created their own shaky hand testers. A shaky hand tester game is a steady hand game that is well known to many as a table top amusement. It is a challenging and competitive game, where you are playing the number of touches against time. The player has to get the right balance between speed and skill in order to obtain the winning score.
Year 5RC have been conducting experiments this half term, as part of our theme ' Mysterious materials' we investigated solids and liquids. We predicted what might happen to the cornflour before we mixed it with water and food colouring.
Last week from 13th - 17th November was Anti bullying week. Year 5RC took part in anti bullying day activities, where by we wore odd socks to school by showing 'we are all different but the same'. Read on to find out more!
After meeting Kamal Hyman, one of the UK’s youngest professional speakers and Spoken Word Artists, Year 5 attended six superhero workshops! Once that six week superhero programme was over, we had a graduation ceremony.
This week in Theme we researched why the Poppy is a significant symbol for remembering wars and soldiers. We then used it as a source of inspiration to create some art.
Year 5RC wrote and recited their own fantastic poems!
