This week in maths year 2 have been measuring. They have measured in metres using the metre sticks and have learnt how to measure in centimetres using a ruler. It was quite tricky at first but after a day’s practise they soon became confident and their measurements are now very accurate. They enjoyed using this new skill to measure objects in the classroom.

They then went on to measuring mass and weighing in kilograms. The main focus was to read the scale and mark the weight on a blank set of scales. After playing a game on the computer which involved reading the weight of parcels, which if correct were then sent in the post van, they had a go at reading and recording weight themselves.

All of year 2 have enjoyed learning through the practical experiences this week.
