Year 2 have been busy this week investigating shape.

Year 2 went out side on a shape hunt to see what they are used for. Back in the classroom they discovered the properties of the shapes and started describing the shapes to their partner. If the description was accurate their partner was able to say which shape had been described. I was really impressed with the use of the correct vocabulary to describe the shapes. Words such as edges, curved and vertices were being used confidently. This was very evident in the game the orange and green groups played where they had to ask questions  to discover the  hidden shape.

Once the properties had been learnt we went on to look at the faces on a 3D shape. We printed the 3D shape and learnt the shape of the faces.
