BCA does Parkrun
BCA got up bright and early on Saturday morning to take part in the Peterborough Parkrun..
On Saturday morning a whole host of bleary eyed teachers, pupils and parents excitedly converged on Peterborough Parkrun. Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. After being inspired by the turnout (over 700 people!) and enjoyment a few weeks previous, I invited BCA teachers, pupils and parents along to experience Peterborough Parkrun for themselves. Thankfully, 580 runners were treated to glorious sunshine as they made their way around the stunning Ferry Meadows Country Park.
The 8 pupils that ran and walked their way around the course did the academy proud. Dressed smartly in their purple Bishop Creighton PE kits, our children were buoyed by the support of school teachers, their parents, fellow runners and the superb volunteers that make the event happen each week. Pupils completed the parkrun in times ranging from 28 to 58 minutes but importantly their willpower and resilience was evident for all to see. They all finished with beaming smiles and the determination to return next week and improve their time. They have since been back at school shouting about their experience for all to hear. Let's hope we see more and more of our pupils attending this fantastic event in the coming weeks. I know I struggle to think of a more worthwhile and fulfilling way to begin a weekend!
One last final well done to Artus, Awat, Harry, Mollie, Alicia, Sonia, Rubi-Lee and Frankie for being a credit to our academy and their families!
