Swimming Gala
On Thursday the 19th of May a group of year 4 and year 6 children attended the annual school's swimming gala. With 15 schools in attendance, BCA competed in a range of swimming races in front of an audince of around 200 people!
Each year the Regional Swimming pool holds a swimming gala, in which schools all around Peterborough are invited to compete. BCA had never attended before, so we were all a little unsure of what to expect. Six Year 4 children and five Year 6 students represented Bishop Creighton in a range of different swimming races. Upon arrival we were all taken back at the amount of people in attendance. With 15 schools competing, there were lots of children, teachers and spectators. The pool had been decorated with flags and there were lots of officials there to observe the swimmers. There were a total of 54 races, including individual events and then team relay races. Nicola came second in his heat for the 25m Butterfly Stroke and Fernando also came second in his heat for the 25m Butterfly Stroke. Many of the schools their had lots of experience competing and had a lot of experience in swimming competitively. Despite none of our team ever competing before, all of them tried their very best and did fantastically well swimming in front of a huge crowd! Although we didn't finish in the top six, it was a great experience and the team did BCA proud!
