Amazing Art Afternoon!

Year 3 had an amazing oportunity to do some inspirational art!

Year 3, along with the rest of Key Stage 2, had the chance to take part in a project to create an exhibition in Peterborough linked to Antony Gormley's sculptures.

We began by finding out about Antony Gormley and the famous 'Angel of the North' sculpture. We could not believe the wings measured 54m!! We found out that Peterborough is lucky enough to be having Antony Gormley's three sculptures in our city centre from April.

We then found out a little bit about the Bronze Age and the archeological site they found called 'Must Farm'. We learnt how the settlement collapsed under water with all the bowls and belongings still in place. We saw a photo of a real bowl and real spear that were found on this site.

This is where the inspiration came from for the exhibit that will be dislayed in town alongside Antony Gormley's sculptures. Each child chose between a bowl or a spear to make out of clay. We were shown how to do it before we had a go ourselves. We used tools to decorate our clay.

We are so excited for April when our work will be displayed in Queensgate. It is a privilege for us all to be a part of such an exciting project!
