Bug hunting
The arrival of our caterpillars has sparked great enthusiasm for bug hunting in the outdoor classroom!
The glorious sunshine has seen the children armed with mini clipboards and bug 'spotter' sheets as they hunt amongst the bushes and log piles for all sorts of creepy crawlies! So far we seem to have an abundance of ants in the garden as well as tiny black flies! The children have shown great care towards their tiny friends as they gently move leaves in search of them.
Today we tested out the bug catchers. After a quick demonstration and reminder to suck gently on the green pipe only! the children were eager to go off catching their own bugs. Lots of questions have been generated from this and the children were very dissapointed that they had to pack away for home time!
