A visit to the Life Bus!
The Life Bus arrived at Bishop Creighton Academy today, and year 4 were lucky enough to get to visit!
Today the Life Bus visited Bishop Creighton Academy and Year 4 were lucky enough to be one of the first classes to enter! The session topic was 'It's great to be me!' The children recapped their knowledge of what is inside our bodies and what our organs do. It was wonderful to see them recalling all of the facts they had remembered from the previous term. And Julie, who led the session was extremely impressed. After identifying organs on a body model called Tam, the discussion moved on to being unique. We explored the idea that there is no one else in the entire world that is the same as us, we are all unique! We thought about what made us different, and what it might be like if we were all the same. The bus transported to the planet Conformatron where everyone looked, did and ate the same! We thought about what it would be like if we weren't allowed to make our own decisions. Moving on from choices and decisons we began to discuss drugs, like nicotine found in cigarettes, and alcohol. We talked about how these substances can unbalance the body, and the damage they can do to our organs. The children all listened attentively and behaved very sensibly, Julie commented on how fantastic they had been and was impressed with their questions and comments. Year 4 really enjoyed their adventure on the life bus and learnt lots of important information!
